Analysis of Double Page Spread-Kerrang

I have chosen to analyse a double page spread from the music magazine Kerrang and the genre of this music magazine is Indie music. The colours that are used in this article are quite basic but make a statement as they are bold and stand out. The colours that have been used in this article are black, white and red. At the top of the article a quote has been taken out of the piece of writing and has been written in bold writing and the fonts been made bigger which grabs the reader’s attention and this may be one of the first things the reader may look at as two contrasting colours have been used on the writing making it more appealing and eye catchy. The quote is written in bold writing and in capital letters which shows she is placing a lot of emphasis to what she is saying and means it. Some readers may find the quote useful as they know what to expect from the article and whether they want to read it or not. This double page article is quite different to the other two articles I have analysed as this article has only one image of Lilly Allan whereas the other two have more than one image of the singer. However only one image has been used in this article but it can be seen as a medium shot and she is making eye contact with the reader which in some ways may be more useful as she is interacting with the reader.

The picture used on this double page article is of Lilly Allen she is likely to draw audience that are attracted to the Indie genre of music as she dressed in a way that will appeal to Indie readers to the magazine. As she is a popular artist she will attract more readers to the magazine and a lot of readers may look up to her which will again increase the magazines popularity. The picture used of Lilly Allen has been used very effectively as the pose used shows dominance and attitude which this type of music is all about. The pose used links in with the quote used on the top of the article “PEOPLE THINK I’M AN ATTENTION SEEKER, BUT I’M JUST HONEST” this shows that she doesn’t really seem to care about what people think of her she’ll do and say what will make her happy she is an independent and determined woman.Eventhough there is one image used in this article the writing is  the same as the other two articles only this image has been made much bigger which may make some readers think that there is more writing but the quantity of the writing is the same as the other two magazines. Lilly Allen’s name is written in red writing showing that she is important. However her clothing  may be seen as much more simpler and straightforward as  she is wearing a top that’s red with black and white stripes however her top is one of the thing that stands out the most on the picture this shows that you don’t have to be overly dressed to be noticed sometimes simple is better.
